IT'S CALLED THE HOUSE OF BLUES

FOR THIS AND MANY OTHER GREAT RARE RADIO SHOWS YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE, KEITH'S KOLLECTABLES.

AND, HOW DO YOU DEFINE RARENESS??

THERE WERE NO MORE THAN 175 LPS OR CDS PRESSED FOR EACH SHOW (SHOWS PRIOR TO 1990 WERE USUALLY ON LP; SHOWS UP TO AROUND 2000 WERE PRESSED ON CD; AND SHOWS UP TO AROUND 2010 WERE PRESSED ON CDR.  SHOWS AFTER AROUND 2010 WERE DISTRIBUTED TO AFFILIATE STATIONS BY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS.  PRESSED FOR EACH WEEKLY SHOW.  THE 175 NUMBER REPRESENTED THE TOP 175 RADIO MARKETS IN THE COUNTRY AND ONLY ONE STATION IN EACH MARKET COULD AIR THE SHOW.

STATIONS IN MARKETS BELOW THE TOP 175 (THERE ARE 306 MARKETS IN THE UNITED STATES) HAD TO TAKE THE SATELLITE FEED OF THE SHOW FROM THE DIAL GLOBAL RADIO NETWORK, THE SYNDICATOR OF THE SERIES)

AND, DUE TO CONTRACTUAL LEGAL OBLIGATIONS, EACH RADIO STATION WAS ALLOWED TO AIR EACH SHOW EXACTLY ONCE AND NO MORE.

SO, MOST RADIO STATIONS JUST DESTROYED THEM AFTER AIRING SINCE THEY WERE USELESS TO THE STATION AFTER AIRING.  THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY OF EACH SHOW SURVIVED.

WHO KNOWS - THIS COULD BE THE ONLY ONE.

THIS SHOW WAS CALLED 'THE HOUSE OF BLUES HOUR'

It was a weekly one hour one cd show in immaculate  condition looking like it was never played before and in fact it was probably played the day it aired and that's it.

Included is a second CD called House of Blues Breaks which contains five daily mini shows ranging from 4 to 7 minutes for each show.  Most shows contained an interview with a blues artist or blues expert crucial to the daily show theme.

It comes with its cue sheets which are in excellent condition, some with marks from the radio station board operator playing the show so he/she could keep track of the upcoming national advertising following which the local station could broadcast its own advertising before the next segment of the show started.

Now, as to the show itself. Each show is hosted by blues expert Dan Akroyd, a charter member of the (in)famous Blues Brothers.  He will lead you through an hour of the best blues and blues/rock music of all time.  The show featured the kinds of blues that the Blues Brothers excelled in - blues with a rock touch although you will hear plenty of traditional blues as well.  It is an exciting hour!

It is an hour of high energy blues and rock and you will love it.   You will learn a lot about music through this great show and the mix of music is terrific. You just cannot find these shows anymore.

The show aired weekly first on the CBS Radio Networks and later on the Westwood One Radio Network and still later on the Dial Global Radio Network, the successor to Westwood One.

The CBS years of the show come beautifully decorated with  graphic art of the show logo across the top as you can see in the listing.  It is one of the most beautiful radio shows that you will see, quite unusual for a radio show that was not pressed to be sold to the public and was most often just thrown away after broadcast.

It features music from the top blues and rock artists of all time in an entertaining and fascinating format often with a special theme or featured artist.

This show was broadcast on December 17, 2005 and was show #05-51 in a series that continued almost to the present day although cd versions were not available after 2010.

EACH WEEKLY SHOW WAS ACCOMPANIED WITH A CD CONTAINING FIVE DAILY SHOWS CALLED 'BLUES BREAKS' WHICH AIRED ALL WEEK LEADING UP TO THE NEXT WEEK'S HOUR SHOW.  THE DATES OF THE BREAKS SHOWS ARE OF THE WEEK STARTING MARCH 19, 2009

EACH DAILY SHOW WAS FIVE TO SIX MINUTE MINUTES IN LENGTH AND CONTAINED AN INTRODUCTION, AN ARTIST INTERVIEW, A SONG AND A ONE MINUTE COMMERCIAL

CUE SHEETS FOR THE DAILY SHOWS ARE ALSO INCLUDED.

This is the original show sent for airing.  It is NOT an unauthorized copy but the Real McCoy!!!   I personally guarantee that every radio show that I sell is the original show sent to stations.  Each show comes from my personal collection of thousands of radio shows of every genre.

SO HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT RADIO SHOWS:

WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW?

 WHY COLLECT THEM?

 WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?

Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them.

Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break.

Many air on Saturday or Sunday mornings, afternoons or evenings or less often weekdays or during overnight segments.  They often feature some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others.

People collect them for various reasons.

Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all.  Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music.  Rather than an album by the artist or a compilation  downloaded through iTunes or wherever, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj presentations which were very entertaining.

Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments.

Some collect commercials especially old car commercials but certainly not limited to only those.

AND, these shows are in limited quantity.

They were pressed just for affiliate stations in the United States.  Some of the more popular shows may have as many as a few hundred of each week's show that survived but think about it.  A few hundred for some 200 million Americans and millions of overseas collectors who look for unique presentations of their favorite artists or form of music is about as rare as rare can be.

Many stations just tossed them away after airing since they could not be played again due to the dated commercial content.

So there may be only a few in existence.

That makes them increasingly hard to find.

They were first distributed on reel to reel tape or on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR.

Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your music from iTunes.

These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them.

I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a no holds barred guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money.

I sell them for near what I bought them for.  I give volume discounts and discount postage always.  As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years has decreased.

And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over fifteen thousand show, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had.

Finally, it is Americana at its best.  Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown.

And you just can't find them anywhere.

Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any.   Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of radio at least music wise.

And every  one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life!  Welcome to the Club!

Stations could use the shows once only during the weekend window of the show.   You are truly buying a  show that will only increase in value and I am selling them at a price very close to what I paid for it

The show also comes with its original national commercials and none of the boring local commercials everyone hates! Believe it or not, you will likely enjoy hearing the commercials from 36 years ago such as Pontiac Sunfire, General Motors and more.

Some people buy these shows for their commercial collections but if you don't like them, just skip to the next track and they are gone!

Remember that this and all the radio music shows that you see on eBay  are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere.  It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining.

As well, it is a piece of radio and music  history.  You just aren't going to find these shows around very much longer as everything is now digitized and downloaded for play and shows are no longer sent out on CD's.  Think of what they will be worth in a few years!  (IF you wanted to sell.)  I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price.  It is a great show and would be a valuable addition to your collection.  As always, for U.S. buyers, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy so the more you buy the more money you will save.

For my international friends, I charge shipping for the first show bought and every other show in the same package ships for free or ONLY $10 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL MULTI LP SHOW.  This is how I try to counter the terribly high shipping prices that recently took a huge hike.

Good Luck and may God richly bless you always and forever.
