Indeed, Trenitalia's E464 BIMODALI have the possibility of circulating both under the catenary with 3kV with normal pantographs and with batteries, in maneuvering mode.

The E464.199 and 276 wear the new Intercity Day livery and are used to tow both the Day Intercity and the Night Intercity.

Aesthetically, changes are visible in the underbody, where a converter for cooling the batteries is placed; the door of the former bicycle compartment is characterized by the presence of a grille and another cooling system has been positioned on the roof, after the rear pantograph.

Currently these E464s operate from Rome Termini-Palermo/Syracuse, and thanks to the possibility of moving independently, boarding and disembarking times on ferries to/from Sicily have been significantly shortened.
