An early 19th century stipple engraving, with the imprint below "Published and Sold Jan. 1st 1806 by Edw. Orme, 59, Bond Street, London."

Taken from a set of 32 Stipple engravings after James Godby, published in 1806 as "Italian Scenery: Representing the Manners, Customs, amd Amusements of the Different States of Italy."

A rare image, uncoloured as issued, showing fish being sold in Rome. One of the vendors has scales on his back. Octvia's Portico had been used as a fish market since Medieval times.

Size: the sheet measures 38cms x 27.5cms.
Condition: A little creased bottom left, but the print is in a good condition, with a clear platemark.
