Carl Augustine / Karl August Straube (b. 1778, died 21. August 1841 in Mittenwalde) was an uncle of Gustav Knak (1806-1878), a Lutheran theologian, revivalist, promoter of missionary ideas and hymn writer, who lived with him after his father's death in 1819. In the "Wanderungen in der Mark Brandenburg" Theodor Fontane mentions in the chapter "Mittenwalde" a German translation of Latin verses by Paul Gerhardt by the provost Straube.

Gehrman. Possibly. did this barber father illegitimate children with a sister or other relatives of his wife?
