Extremely rare 50 Years ago, limited edition, "In this Korner Miles Davis" original poster, photograph and flyer of performance at the Keystone Korner in San Francisco April 16th through April 21, 1974. Miles Davis commissioned Ricardo Penalver to create this poster in 1973 for his future show at Keystone Korner in April of 1974.
Ricardo and Miles took a series of photos in 1973 at a private location in San Francisco. Six original photographs were used for this poster. The photograph in the center is the photograph included in this sale. Ricardo developed the photo. Ricardo signed and dedicated it to Miles on 4/4/1973; that day was Ricardo's birthday. To the best of my knowledge this is the only photo that remains from the photo shoot on that day.
On April 30, 1974 Ricardo Penalver and I (Alexa Bryson) met at the Orphanage Club in San Francisco. Mongo Santamaria and Luis Gasca were performing. Later that evening, Ricardo dedicated and gave me this poster with a small self portrait drawing of himself. He loved to dedicate and personalize his gifts. It is very special to me and I am hopeful a grateful collector will add these works to your collection. Ricardo and I shared a 20 year relationship and to this day, 50 years later, I am still dedicated to the legacy of the great Ricardo Penalver (1937-1995). The poster does have push pin holes in the corners, where I personally pinned it to my wall. There is a very slight water stain in the border on the lower right side under pen mark of Penalver signature on the poster. The photograph has a slight bend/fold in the upper left hand corner. The original Keystone Korner flyer includes Miles Davis artwork from poster as well as a photograph taken by Ricardo Penalver of Miles Davis.

During the printing process, Penalver decided to print a special limited edition of "In this Korner" of Miles Davis wearing his famous red sunglasses. To the best of my knowledge Ricardo printed 3 sets of limited edition posters. The red sunglasses on mat paper, a brown sunglasses on mat paper and a brown sunglasses on high gloss. The brown sunglasses on high gloss is the edition he dedicated to me. The red sunglasses edition has Aleman signature. Penalver and Aleman traded posters with their respective signatures. The Miles Davis Red Sunglass poster is from Penalver's personal collection. It is incredible and extremely rare to have signatures of both artists on two of the limited edition runs.
