This cable is the most common size of cable used in and for the UK furniture market. This cable has a free cable length of 128mm when measuring the cable along the entire length of exposed cable to the end of the dog leg or 108mm to the start of the dog leg. The overall length of the cable from top of the handle to dog leg end is approx 1050mm. The version has a 40mm cable between the handle and mounting plate meaning cable can protrude up

between seats and arms. Mounting plate is approx 45x35mm and has six mounting holes. Cable is fitted with a spring over free cable for a spring like feel when pulling handle

Please be aware that this cable, unlike many others on eBay, is made using a metal collar where it secured to the handle for added strength

To measure the size of you do not always need to remove original cable from the recliner and handle, if the cable is broken it is highly likely to have broken at the handle end and handle detached or loose threads - if this is the case push the cable back up the sheathing until the cable sticks slightly out of the sheathing and measure the free cable, this will give you a approx free cable length and providing your measurement is within 5mm of the above measurement this cable will be suitable

This cable is the most common design used recently by many manufacturers and as such would normally be a like for like swap

Fitting these cables is easy and we would suggest that they can be easily replaced by anyone with basic tools. In most circumstances the fitting of this would be as follows; turn over recliner and open mechanism, remove dog leg and detach plastic clip from mechanism. Now remove handle which is normally secured with two screws. Cable is now free and can be removed - at this point we normally recommend securing new cable to old with tape or string allowing you to pull new cable into position whilst removing the old one
