Very unusual cast iron gecko lizard.

Cast Iron Gecko Lizard Antiqued Green Patina w Rings Garden Decor Inside Outside

This lizard is beautifully detailed and has an antique green patina. I believe the rings are put in the original form to allow the metal to get to the tiniest details of the lizard. Most likely, the rings are cut off in the finishing process, but this one was kept back for some reason and the rings have not been removed. This is my theory only and I might be completely wrong.  If so, I hope someone will tell me the actual purpose of the rings..
