Epiphone FT-570SB Sheraton 1970 (1970s)

A very rare Japan-made Epiphone has arrived! Epiphone was originally a brand that manufactured and sold musical instruments in New York in the early 1900s, but was acquired by Gibson in 1957.
The production base was then gradually transferred to the Gibson Kalamazoo factory.
And from 1970 to 1979, the Epiphone brand was produced in Japan.
Then, in the 1980s, the production base moved to South Korea, and currently production continues at our own factory in China.
The current China-made Epiphone is sold at a very low price, so these days it tends to be seen as a brand for beginners, but it is a traditional American brand along with Martin and Gibson. It's one of the brands.

This time, the FT-570SB was manufactured at the Matsumoku factory in Japan in the 1970s.
This Matsumoku Epiphone seems to be an extremely rare item that is extremely popular among some enthusiasts as a hidden masterpiece!

Laminated spruce TOP, laminated maple SIDE & BACK, birch 2-piece NECK, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, actual 42.8mm nut, 17-inch jumbo body with 25.5-inch scale.
The pearloid inlay in the bridge gives this model a very cool look reminiscent of 70's Gibson!

The sound is surprisingly good, perhaps because of the 17-inch size despite the all-plywood body! A bouncy bass, a thick midrange, and a glossy and extended treble are all mixed together. It comes together naturally and produces a powerful sound typical of a jumbo body.
It doesn't have the strong quirks of Gibson-made Epiphones from the 1960s, but I think the sound is easy to use in all genres and playing styles.
If you're expecting the sound of a Gibson Epiphone, it's different, but it's definitely a more solid and solid sound than the current Epiphone, so I think it's a sound that even veterans will be satisfied with!

The condition of the instrument is in very good condition considering its age! There are some small dents and scratches, but there are no flashy scratches that are noticeable even from a distance, and it is generally in good condition. It can be said that it is a product.
There is a spot on the back of the neck that looks like a black scratch, but this is not a scratch, but a stain on the grain of the wood.
There are some cracks in the cell binding on the head, and the heel cap on the neck also has cracks due to shrinkage over time, but if you look at this as a vintage Japanese item, you'll notice it. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
When searching the web for FT-570, it seems that it was originally a PG with an e mark.
Even if I look closely, I can't find any signs that it has been replaced, so I wonder if this individual was originally this PG? Or perhaps it was replaced very early on.
It's the same with the pegs, and there seem to be many cheap pegs with metal buttons, but there is no evidence that they have been replaced either, so it seems that this peg was originally made.

The neck condition is good and straight, and the current string height is about 2.5mm on the 6th string and 2.0mm on the 1st string above the 12th fret, which is the best setting.
The saddle is also a little more OK.
There is some reduction in the frets overall, but even at the most reduced part, 60-70% of the original height remains.

This is a perfect guitar for those who are looking for a unique guitar that no one else has, and it has an outstanding atmosphere and rarity!

A general-purpose gig case is included.
