If you'd love to own a Yaesu FT-840 then you will be lucky to find another one as good as this. It is in almost perfect condition and the plastic protective film is still on the display.

The original manual and DC lead are included, as is a Yaesu MH-1 B8 microphone; these are sought after on their own. I'll include a PDF of the service manual and circuit diagram too.

I've tested it on all bands and modes...it works flawlessly. Sadly, due to twiddlers and part swappers, I have to offer it as 'for parts or not working'...it's also over ten years old.

UPDATE: I've had a number of questions so have added some more pictures showing the top and bottom boards, and R2213. In answer to the questions:
You are however, most welcome to come and try it if you wish, if you win the item...if you don't think my description is accurate when you visit, I'll cancel the sale. I can't be fairer than that. No returns whatsoever if posted, sorry.

I've set my price based on what I've seen similar, although not as pristine, examples sell for. If you wish to make an offer, bear in mind that I won't respond immediately and someone else may buy it in the meantime.

IMPORTANT:

I'm sorry if you feel postage prices are expensive, but I have to use a tracked and signed for, fully insured service. This is to ensure you get your item safely and I am protected in the extremely rare instance that an item gets lost. The Post Office and UPS as examples, have a very low defect rate indeed.

The Post Office has an actual loss rate of only 0.1%, although 1% are reported lost. Many of these are fraudulent claims which are always investigated these days, the rest are poorly packed or addressed packages.

UK postage rates are for accessible mainland destinations ONLY. If you live in the Highlands or Islands of the UK, there may be an additional charge for carriage...this is outside my control. If you do live in one of these remote areas, please advise me of your location and DO NOT PAY until I confirm the carriage charge with you.

PRICING

Everything I'm listing is here to sell, but please read the following:

Auctions - my starting prices are usually below what I expect the item to achieve. If 'Best Offer' is turned on, it means I might well accept a higher offer for something, which is representative of what it usually sells for, accounting for condition.

Buy it Now - my prices are based on what similar items have previously sold for on eBay. If 'Best Offer' is turned on, I may well accept a slightly lower offer...after the listing has been live for several days.

If 'Best Offer' isn't turned on, you can always ask...but someone else may buy it before I get a chance to reply.

PACKING

I take great care to pack everything I send so it survives the trauma of transit. I know how frustrating it is to receive something I was looking forward to getting, only to find the packing had been poor and the item damaged. This is especially important with books.

BOOKS

My house is warm and dry...couriers' vans are cold in winter, sometimes below freezing. If you buy a book from me, please acclimatise it to your warm house after being in a courier's van. Keep it in the cling film inner wrapper I put it in and place it in a cooler room in your house, with several heavy books on top to keep it flat. Leave it like this for at least a couple of days, then move it as-is, into a room at normal temperature for another day or so.

If you don't do this, the moisture content in the pages and hard cover can change, resulting in curly pages and warped covers. They may straighten later, but often don't. This is not something I have any control over.

POSTAGE COSTS...a reminder

My postage and packing charges are for regular UK mainland destinations ONLY. If you live in the highlands, islands, Northern Ireland or any other remote location, some couriers charge an additional fee...please wait for an invoice before paying. The postage charges reflect the weight and necessary insurance value of the item.

Postage and packing charges are outside my control. They include the cost of the postage and insurance, plus packing materials and any fees associated with postage costs. There's no such thing as 'free postage'...it's included. This is fine for one offs but not good if you are buying two or more items. Do check out my other items. I only use shipping methods that include tracking, as required by eBay seller protection.

COMBINED SHIPPING

I offer shipping discounts on combined purchases for eligible items. Use the "Add to cart" button instead of "Buy It Now". When done, click on the cart icon in the upper right corner of the screen to view your selections. Click on "Request total from seller" and you'll soon receive a revised eBay invoice from me with a combined shipping discount, when available.

DISPATCH TIME

My dispatch time is up to 3 days; normally it's next day. If you need the item dispatched quickly, just let me know.

CUSTOMS CHARGES, DUTY AND TAXES

You are responsible for any customs collection charges, duty or other taxes levied by your import organisation. I use eBay's Global Shipping Program which helps to mitigate this.

RETURNS

I don't offer returns as the items I'm selling are mainly one offs that I no longer need. I'm downsizing a lifetime's collection and some items that used to belong to my late parents.

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
