Taken from a brand new Traxxas VXL spec RC car. Standard 540 size motor and sensorless brushless ESC, max 3s LiPo. ESC must be placed in LiPo mode when used with LiPo Batteries.

Note: Motor bolts will vary depending on which model the motor came from.

Important: We will not provide warranty service for de-magnified rotors or failed bearings. Follow the below instructions carefully to avoid this.

Motors must be geared correctly according to temperature, with a safe maximum considered to be around 65c, leaving some leeway for variations in conditions. Temperature must be checked frequently during initial runs and gearing reduced if over-heating occurs.

Temperature can increase significantly where a car has been temperature checked and geared in an on-road environment or at lower ambient temperatures and is then used in an off-road environment and/or at higher ambient temperatures. Motor temperatures must be checked regularly during initial runs in these conditions as well.

Drivetrain wear and/or component failure is a common cause of motor damage, always check the drivetrain moves freely before use. Waterlogged tyres are also a common cause of motor overheating, drill holes in the tyres as recommended by Traxxas in the manual.

If used in a Traxxas car, refer to the manual or the website for the VXL version to determine the correct gearing. Note that the Traxxas specified high-speed gearing usually constitutes over-gearing for this motor and is designed for use in ideal on-road conditions with modest ambient temperature, with time to cool down inbetween runs.

The bearings in these motors are prone to failure as the grease dries up after a while, usually a few years, especially if used or stored in wet conditions. The motor is fully rebuildable, it is recommended to replace the bearings regularly so that the motor will last.
