The 1933 2¢ postal stationery card with message from a sailor on the S.S. Osage (a British Royal Fleet Auxiliary tender) reading “I was in Cuba last month sweating & now here freezing [June in Argentia]. We were ship-wrecked but survived - - Will be in Africa soon.” The Osage was bombed in the Irish Sea by the Luftwaffe on Dec. 18, 1940, but the entire crew was rescued.
