Up
for sale is a vintage paperback edition of The Five Fingers by Gayle Rivers and James Hudson published by Bantam Books. I'm not quite so sure what year this book is from, as the initial copyright year attributed to it is 1978 with a subsequent Doubleday edition listed as being published in March of 1978... further on down that page, there are a total of seven printings listed, with the last one being published in December of 1981; so I can only assume that this must be the year that this particular paperback was published.
This
book was found stuck onto another trade paperback publication and the
cover just disintegrated once they were all pulled apart; which
basically caused the rear cover to be torn off and the last page along
with it. A piece of tape was added in order to hold the last torn page
together; but the patch work is amateur at best; and well... the book
just looks to be in very poor shape and could use some restoration work if that sort of thing is possible... I have heard of hardcover books being restored, but I don't know if the same applies to paperbacks.
Anyways, as mentioned before, the cover of this book is in pretty rough shape with immediately visible missing pieces on both the front and the rear (which has torn off completely). Aside from this, the book is riddled with crease marks,
page bends (along the corners of some pages), scuff marks, and there's also a hint of what I can only assume must be some sort of water damage to it as the pages have yellowed a great deal (as is the case with newsprint which tends to become brittle over age) while the inside covers have developed quite a great deal of spotting on them.
Because of the cosmetic shape that this book is currently in, I'm simply just pricing it to move, so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade.
