addressed to the privy legation counselor Freiherr von Meysenbug in Lauenau, ie the legation counselor and chamberlain Friedrich Ulrich rival of Meysenbug (1803-1888), son of the Hessian politician and temporary foreign minister Carl Rivalier von Meysenbug (1779-1847).

Place name and signature difficult to read; the seal probably with the initials "AR" or "AK", above it a coat of arms with 3 sheaves, apparently surrounded by a hammer and sickle?

"Dear friend!

Since I sent my relatives to Lauenau, I wanted to ask how you were doing?

Could you still be found among the living?

Have you spoken to Herr Schulz?

Have you found your dear relatives?

Would you be back in Lauenau?

Are you thinking of me?

Do you still have faith in humanity and its justice?

Whether you receive the writings from Fipsold?–

Whether you get the knowledge that the heirs must be sued? –

Will you message me?

Do you still love me? –

These and all sorts of inquiries throw up at me! –

About the recipient: Friedrich Ulrich Freiherr Rivalier von Meyenburg (born December 29, 1803 in Kassel, d. 11. January 1888 in Lauenburg), secret legation counselor and chamberlain. In 1829 he married Caroline Marianne von Harnier (b. September 1809 in Moscow, died. 1851), daughter of the merchant Gabriel Ludwig von Harnier (1771-1838) and Reyne Catharina, b. petty.
