A beautiful large signed oil by Henry John Yeend King depicting fishermen on the banks of a river. The work is on board and is in very good condition and ready to hang. A very fine example of his work - King studied in Pairs under Leon Bonnat and Fernand Cormon. He was elected to teh Royal Scoiety of British Artists and his work can be found in the Tate Gallery as well as numerous other museums.

John Henry Yeend King trained in Paris under Léon Bonnat and Fernand Cormon. He exhibited regularly in London at the Royal Academy from 1879, and at the Suffolk Street Gallery from 1874. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, and vice-president of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. He exhibited in Berlin and Munich, and won a bronze medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889. The Tate Gallery in London acquired his painting Milking Time in 1898. His paintings of farm-girls in rustic landscapes are popular and highly sought after.
