Brass Gimbal Ship Compass in Wood Box C. Plath Hamburg Germany


This handsome 8"x8"x5" wood box has an inlaid brass anchor on the lid and brass accent on the corners. The inside has a brass gimbal ship's compass which will always stay level. It was made in Hamburg, Germany by C. Plath.


It is in very good preowned condition. Note that this is NOT an antique. The wood box it is in was made in India and you can see a slight stable crack on the underside (see last close-up). Please see all of the pictures for finer detail and ask any questions that would be helpful.
