Vintage 'OPTIMUS 80' Backpacking Stove, Gasoline Powered w/Tin Litho Stove Box

This is a 1970's Gasoline (petrol) powered Optimus stove. I tested it out with the old fuel that was in it when I bought it and got it to the jet flame stage, but it wasn't a pure blue flame, probably due to the old fuel. There is just not much that can go wrong with this system. Such a simple concept, and I still find it amazing. The tube that feeds the fuel begins to act as a jet once it reaches a certain temperature. This is the same principle that lanterns use, as well as turbo jets on certain planes.

It's missing the "flame spreader" that fits over the burner (It can be used without it, especially since this box works as a burner, too). This is easy to replace and inexpensive since it's so common to lose them. You can even find modified after-market versions that work better than the original at any store that sells camping equipment, or on line.

A note about fuel-This stove burns any gasoline, the "white" version included (but not necessary). A full tank will supply 50 minutes of cook time at full heat.
