You are bidding on a drawn one Postcard from 1937 and a another drawing in the same style.
Postcard motif: Elephant on wheels, black boy next to it.
Dated (according to postmark) Freiburg im Breisgau, 2. December 1937.
One Anna writes to Traute Teubner in Aue (Saxony) in the Erzgebirge, Schneeberger Straße 140. -- The recipient was probably related to the Auer honorary citizens Emil Teubner (1877-1958), wood carver and sculptor, and his sons Hans Teubner (1902-1992), glass painter, journalist and resistance fighter, and Kurt Teubner (1903-1990), painter and graphic designer?
Anna could be a sister of hers.
With a poem that I certainly wrote myself:
"A little Negro with a red coat
stands in the picture with a bowed leg
he looks after an elephant,
on blue wheels, elegant
he is dressed up with blankets.
The teeth and tail trimmed
for such a huge animal
the little tail is ridiculously small here.
Little Negro opens his mouth wide
before he begins his run."
The motif page describes: "Danz duten from Anna. Send me one too!"
With grandfather's addition: "Greetings & kisses from Grandpa."
The accompanying drawing in the same style probably comes from the same illustrator.
Motive: Ship anchored at the harbor.
With poem:
"The steamboat is a beautiful thing
You can travel with it on the water!"
Format: 9.3x16cm.
Condition: Cards with partially perforated edges. paper browned and slightly stained; with corner creases. Please also note the pictures!
Internal note: Gard23-12 Art brut children's drawing
