Welcome to Fantasy Friday, featuring imaginative films for the young and young at heart.

We have something special here.  This imported German special edition features a heavy slipcase over a beautiful bound 48-page Mediabook which holds one (region-free) 4k UHD and one Region B Blu-ray and two Region 2 DVDs with the movie and special features.  Meaning American Blu-ray and DVD players may not be able to play those discs, but any 4k UHD player can play the 4k disc.  The book's text is in German.  This was limited to 2000 copies.

From ultrahd.highdefdigest.com:

"Rob Reiner's The Princess Bride remains a classic fairy tale yarn about true love with a charming mixture of swashbuckling adventure, endearing romance, meta-storytelling and witty humor. Offering a welcomed improvement over previous home video releases, this Ultra HD edition imported from Germany charms fans with a gorgeous, demo-worthy 4K video, a quartet of German and English DTS-HD tracks but the same assortment of supplements as before. All in all, the overall UHD package is very much worth the price to import and makes for a Highly Recommended addition to the library.

A high-spirited adventure that pits true love against inconceivable odds, The Princess Bride has charmed legions of fans with its irreverent gags, eccentric ensemble, and dazzling swordplay. A kid (Fred Savage), home sick from school, grudgingly allows his grandfather (Peter Falk) to read him a dusty storybook—which is how we meet the innocent Buttercup (Robin Wright, in her breakout role), about to marry the nefarious Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) though her heart belongs to Westley (Cary Elwes). The wedding plans are interrupted, however, by a mysterious pirate, a vengeful Spaniard, and a good-natured giant, in a tale full of swashbuckling, romance, and outrageously hilarious spoofery. Directed by Rob Reiner from an endlessly quotable script by Oscar winner William Goldman, The Princess Bride reigns as a fairy-tale classic."

While the UHD disc contains a trio of Trailers (HD), all the bonus material can be found on the accompanying Blu-ray disc, porting over the same set of supplements the 25th Anniversary release, except one featurette focusing on the music and sound effects.
