WWII USMC 1st Marine Corp Division Patch Guadalcanal WW2 - previously stitched on. No glow with blacklight

This is an original WWII 1st Marine Division Guadalcanal shoulder patch. It was uniform-worn.

This original WWII embroidered patch with twill backing is in excellent condition. Colors are bright with minimal wear.

It does not glow under a UV Blacklight.

The 1st Marine Division Guadalcanal shoulder patch was the first patch to be approved in WWII and specifically commemorated the division's sacrifices and victory in the Battle for Guadalcanal.

It originally was authorized for wear by members of units who served with or were attached to the Division in the Pacific in World War II. It features the National Colors - red, white, and blue - in its diamond-shaped blue background with a red numeral "1" inscribed with white lettering, "GUADALCANAL." The white stars featured on the night-sky blue background are in the arrangement of the Southern Cross constellation, under which the Guadalcanal fighting took place.

Nicknamed "The Old Breed," The 1st Marine Division is part of the I Marine Expeditionary Force, which also includes the 3rd Marine Aircraft and 1st Marine Logistics Group.
