You are bidding on a helmet of the Dutch Colonial troops in the Netherlands Indies (now Indonesia), the Royal Netherlands Indies Army (Koninklijk Nederlands Indisch Leger), KNIL. This helmet was developed from the M27. These were manufactured (post-1940, pre-1945) in de USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by Germany and was used against the Japanese in 1941. After the Japanese occupation of Indonesia (Netherlands-Indies), the evacuated KNIL-military in Australia were equipped with this USA-made helmets as well.

Original KNIL type chin strap and liner (one of the horsehair pouches is missing). It has almost all original paint, but was repainted inside the rim. The sun protection leather for the neck was cut off, probably to use the helmet in the Royal Navy (until ca 1950). But I made a new one, and it comes with the helmet.
