This auction is for the VINTAGE 1960s APPX. 4x5-INCH BLACK AND WHITE SINGLEWEIGHT GLOSSY GELATIN SILVER PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINT OF AN UNIDENTIFIED PHYSIQUE MODEL AND ASPIRING BODYBUILDER SHOT AND MARKETED BY HOMBRE (Tag Haggerty). This print came into my possession as part of a collection of Hombre prints (some of which were stamped and identified), and although I can't identify the model, I feel certain this is a Hombre print.

This photograph is in VERY GOOD condition, with minor corner bumps at the very tips of a couple of the white borders and what appears to be adhered paper to the lower left corner, as shown in my scans. Use my scans as your guide.
HOMBRE / TAG HAGGERTY was one of the least well known of the many physique photo studios that proliferated in the mid-to-late 1950s. It's difficult to know whether Tag Haggerty was his real name (or more likely a variant thereof), but for a time his work appeared with some regularity in many of the popular physique magazines like Tomorrow's Man and Grecian Guild Pictorial, as well as the more obscure Art & Physique. Fortunately, at least two catalogs and an issue of Grecian Guild Studio Quarterly chronicle the studio’s models and set numbers, so we have some clues as to the studio's output. Occasionally, the studio's prints will bear a backstamp with the studio's ID and set number. More often, only one print in a set is stamped and the others circulate as little mysteries.
