Packaged with a paper cushion in a round paper tin can (which is reusable) it can be used for daily body care or a personal gift for someone. Handmade by experienced professionals, Herb Basics use local herbs of Chiang Mai and mainland Thailand as their main ingredients. Use of natural deodorant stones is highly effective in naturally protecting against body odors. 99% of deodorant crystals use potassium alum, NOT aluminum.

ALUM and ALUMINUM are two different substances, with distinct chemical signatures. Potassium alum molecules have a negative ionic charge, making it unable to pass through the cell wall. The chemical formula for potassium alum is K2SO4AI2(SO4)324H2O. Potassium alum is a colorless substance that forms octahedral or cubic crystals. They are not absorbed by the cells therefore making them safe to use and will not cause high levels of aluminum in your system. In the contrary, aluminum compounds, (such as aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium both very water soluble) are also used as an antiperspirant however they are readily absorbed. While absorbed, the aluminum part of the molecule ionizes, forming free or radical aluminum (Al3+) which passes freely across cell membranes and, when dissolved, is selectively absorbed by liver, kidneys, brain and bone marrow, which makes aluminum compounds not appropriate for use due to serious medical concerns.

Bauxite is the ore from which alum is drawn. It is formed by the rapid weathering of granite rocks in warm, humid climates and can be purified and converted directly into alum. Potassium alum is soluble in seven times its weight of water at room temperature and is very soluble in hot water. When crystalline potassium alum is heated, some of the water of hydration becomes chemically separated, and the partly dehydrated salt dissolves in this water, so that the alum appears to melt at about 90 degrees C, then potassium alum swells up, loses all water and becomes a basic salt called burn alum.

Shipment by USPS First Class mail service usually takes 2-3 days within USA. For international First Class mail approx. 7 days.
