A Fulper Stangl 'smoker's set'. The Fulper ashtray was originally sold with a ceramic match holder and cigar caddy as set #74S (#74 in some catalogs). The catalogs list the glaze as Mission Matte but this tray seems to be Cafe au Lait. The ashtray has two small chips as shown in the images. The mark is the early vertical rectangular ink stamp FULPER used from 1910-1917. The wood cigarette holder is from a later period as it is hot-stamped in gold on the top with FULPER POTTERY CO Trenton, N.J. Manufacturers of Stangl Pottery. The top spins freely to reveal the next smoke. The bottom of the cigarette holder is covered in felt, which is in excellent condition.
