1968 Press Photo Skater Sonja Henie shows off her first Olympic gold medal
Sonja Henie: From 1927 through 1936, figure skating star Sonja Henie won ten consecutive world championships and three consecutive Olympics championships. Incredibly, the Norwegian miss made her fourth and final Olympic appearance in 1936 when she was but 23 years old. After the 1936 triumph, Miss Henie turned professional, toured the United States with her ice show and made many "on-ice" films. By the age of 26, the Norwegian Doll was earning about $1-million a year. It's the 1928 St. Moritz, Switzerland Olympics and a 15-year-old Norwegian doll, Sonja Henie, shows off her first Olympic gold medal. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo Is dated 1968.
