A superb heavy quality, larger antique signet ring, set with a stunning, deep, strong and pure natural cobalt blue lapis lazuli.

The oval stone has some of the nicest dimensions, and its ratio relative to both its beveled bezel surround, and its integrated shoulders, make for a piece that truly dances the line between art and function.

In solid 14 carat gold throughout, the ring is a strong, capable, flowing band that's very comfortable so would be ideal for both occasional and daily wear. My favourite aspect of this piece is the way the shoulders fall away from the head, retaining the thickness of the rich, yellow gold that continues around the back of the head, and gives some wonderful reflections as the light moves across it - providing a sense of substance while being easy to wear.

Engraved '14ct' to the inner band to warrant the precious metal content, it dates to around 1930/40, is a very impressive size 10.5 resizable, measures 18 mm across the head, and weighs in at a lovely 6.3 grams. It's in fair antique condition, with some wear/patina to the gold and the stone surface, showing pitting and scratches in line with its age and use.
