This beautiful Japanese lock box is decorated in lacquerware which has been hand-painted showing small birds and flora and a village scene using gilding and a rich umber (softly glossy, deep, rich, smokey red) like lacquer.

Although it's not marked it's typical of the mid to late 19th Century.

The condition is very good, with just minor flaked lacquerware and the odd dent, here and there, which is typical of age.

There's no key but it's probably a generic lock which fits any japanese lacquerware type box.

It measures approximately 30.5cm wide x 10.5cm front to back x 7.5cm high.

I can combine postage where possible, if sizes and weights apply favourably and there is no risk of damage to do so.
