This is a superb Collector's copy of the Deluxe Edition of 'The Children of Hurin' by J R R Tolkien, beautifully illustrated throughout by Alan Lee.

This Deluxe Slipcased Edition was published by Harper Collins in 2007.

This is a First Edition, First Printing, UK Hardback, SIGNED by the illustrator, Alan Lee to the title page. It is housed in a matching board slipcase.

This is a very rare and highly collectible title. This book is one of the limited First Print copies available from the Publishers in 2007. It was subsequently signed by Alan at a launch event in 2022 for a later Tolkien release.

This superb edition has the following features:

(1) Drawing together J R R Tolkien's original manuscripts, using many sources spaced out over decades, Christopher Tolkien has constructed a narrative without any editorial intervention.

(2) Includes a brand new red and black map of 'Beleriand' specially drawn by Christopher Tolkien as a fold-out sheet.

(6) Quarter bound in blue with grey boards, stamped in gold foil with a unique motif of the Helm of Hador created by Alan Lee and housed in a matching custom-built slipcase.

The Book is tight and square. The text block is toning evenly with age and is otherwise bright and clean. There is no spine lean. All corners are sharp and intact. There is no pushing or bruising to the spine. The book and its case are bright and clean. There is no sunning or fading.

The case is free of any significant bumps, pushing, scratches or other marks
