HERE’S A WORLD WAR I US ARMY DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE FOR WILLIAM GLASSELL MILLER, JR., FIRST LIEUTENANT, MEDICAL CORPS, DATED AT CAMP GREENLEAF, GEORGIA, DEC. 23rd 1918, and SIGNED BY THE ADJUTANT GENERAL, MAJOR CHARLES J. STENDLER, and INFANTRY CAPTAIN THOMAS S. GARRETT.

Camp Greenleaf was a medical officer training camp created at Chickamauga National Battlefield Park in May 1917 as part of Fort Oglethorpe during WWI.

The camp was created under a program that used National Park and Battlefield land for military training installations. In only 18 months of operation, the camp trained 6,640 officers and 31,138 enlisted men. During this period 37 evacuation hospitals were staffed and equipped, with most departing camp for the front.

THE DOCUMENT MEASURES 8” x 10½” AND IS IN VERY FINE CONDITION, WITH EVEN TONING AT THE EDGES FROM FRAMING.
