DESCRIPTION –
This
is a very unique and special
tie, being of the uncommon loosely-knit style and bearing the white Pininfarina
“f” logo. The texture of the 100% silk knit is immediately apparent upon
handling, and the loose weave allows light to pass through when held up to a
light source, though the tie is not “see-through”.
Narrow,
with square ends, this understated black tie will complement most wardrobe
styles. It is not wide and gaudy.

sewn-on tags read:

My friend who owned this tie was a Fiat and Lancia automobile
dealer (among other marques). In 1978 he and his wife traveled to Turin, Italy,
where they toured the Fiat and Lancia factories, then moved on to Monaco for a
Lancia Business Meeting and New Car Presentation. During this trip he was personally
presented with this silk tie by Mr. Sergio Pininfarina, the son of Battista
"Pinin" Farina, the founder of the Pininfarina coachbuilding company,.
This tie has NEVER been worn. It has been stored in its original clear plastic
sleeve and its original Pininfarina-marked paper envelope.
My
friend wrote on the envelope:
“From
Mr.”, with an arrow pointing down to the “Pininfarina” printed on the envelope,
then “our visit to Fiat factory” below “Pininfarina”, and below that his name.
