Photos form the description

From a private collection of mainly old carpentry tools . An antique (early 1900's) rosewood infill brass encased shoulder plane with a bevel edged iron made by Hearnshaw Bros. The plane iron has the makers name but this does not mean that the plane itself was made by Hearnshaw Bros. The sole is smooth with no damage. There are minimal scratches on the brass and one of the previous owners names engraved on the front. The wedge is also rosewood and it holds firm as it should. If bought to use rather than display we always suggest a sharpening of the iron before use. The sole is 8 inches long and 1 and a 1/4 inches wide. This beautiful shoulder plane weighs a hefty 1030g unpackaged.

The iron also carries the John Bull trademark - John Bull was an imaginary rotund figure who was the personification of England, and all things English and was similar to the American ‘Uncle Sam’. Also, the Hearnshaw Bros were located in the late 1800's at John Bull Works in Sheffield.
