Antique Staffordshire Multicolor Transfer Duck Boy Footed Trivet 19th Century
Offered for sale is this square footed trivet decorated with hand painted over transfer scene of a young boy in a rustic smock shepherding (duck-herding?) a flock of ducks and chickens. It's a charming scene, as the chickens proudly march over a small bridge in front of a coppiced tree, while the ducks all head to the stream. The landscape is surrounded by an ornate border printed in brown transfer. Impressed marks "Lon[don] No. 99" plus a painter's number. Second half of the 19th century.
The square trivet is 9 7/8 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. It weighs 1 lb 12 oz (shipping weight 4 lbs).
