     This July 20, 1976 cover commemorates the 7th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 MOON LANDING on July 20, 1969. The cover also commemorates the day of the postmark when the first unmanned spacecraft made a successful landing on Mars.



This cover features the 10 cent Commercial Aviation stamp issued in March 1976 featuring a Ford-Pullman Monoplane and a Laird Swallow Biplane - Scott # 1684



The cachet is deep red color with a photograph of a descending landing module. The cachet was printed by the Space City Cover Society and has its logo thereon. Also printed on the cachet is "VIKING 1 MARS LANDING - The first of two unmanned spacecraft made a successful landing on Mars on July 20, 1976, the seventh anniversary of the First Man on the Moon. The day was declared by President Ford as 'Space Exploration Day' ".
