1961 Press Photo LaRue Olsen of Whitewood riding "Pat" the Buffalo at event

This is an original press photo. LaRue Olsen, Whitewood, South Dakota riding "Pat" 9 year old Buffalo who he claims is the world's only trained Buffalo. He lassoed the critter Christmas of 1952 when he was 9 months old and weighed 425 lbs., he now weighs 1400 lbs and isn't quite full grown. Olson claims the Buffalo can do anything a horse can and then some...the Buffalo and Olsen have been on several TV shows and in some Walt Disney productions and works completely by voice command. Photo measures 8 x 10inches. Photo is dated 9-21-1961.
