First Edition / First Impression with original Richard Chopping dustjacket.

1961 publication by Jonathan Cape.

Hardback in good structural condition. Good secure boards and spine with little lean and minimal bumping.  Binding is very good.  Spine title in First State gilt.  Some residue in evidence from previous use of cellotape towards the lower edge (can be removed with a book cleaning solvent). An age stain to the textblock edge (picture 7). Small previous owner inscription on the front pastedown (picture 11).

Dustjacket is the original 'Richard Chopping' and in 'Fair only' condition.  Not price-clipped (15s). Small piece missing from the lower back (picture 9). Closed tear (1.5 inch) to the lower back.  The main issue is the existence of cellotape residues to the inside of the dustjacket (picture 10).
