Offered here is a Newly Reconditioned Grenadilla Wood Leblanc Soloist Bb Clarinet. The Soloist Model was Leblanc's "step-up" model to the professional line of clarinets. It features the selected wood and bore of the top line models, but with a less refined key mechanism (somewhat similar to the Leblanc Normandy or Noblet models). This Soloist model, which was produced by Leblanc in the late 1990s and early 2000s should not be confused with the Soloist model being produced by the Conn-Selmer company since they bought the Leblanc company.

This instrument had been unused for several years when it came to me. The keys were badly tarnished and the wood was extremely dehydrated. After repeated oilings, the wood has stabilized with no cracking or chipping. I completely disassembled the instrument; oiled inside and out; buffed each key; replaced all of the pads with 3 mm, double skinned, American made pads; replaced any corks that were damaged or ineffective; reassembled the clarinet; play tested it; and finally a few minor adjustments were made.

I found this instrument to have a full, rich tone with quick response in all registers. (I tested it with my older Woodwind mouthpiece and Ridenour barrel.) Leblanc clarinets are noted for their excellent intonation, their rich tone, and the elegance of their key design. This wonderful instrument does not disappoint.

This is a quality instrument suitable to nearly any need. Whether you have a young player ready to move up from their beginner's clarinet or a more advanced student needing a quality wood instrument - this will make an excellent option. If you're an adult rekindling your love of all things clarinet - this will make a wonderful player as nice to look at as it sounds. If you're a doubler looking for very fine clarinet to upgrade your playing - look no further.

I am a retired music teacher and professional woodwind performer with over 60 years experience. Since my retirement from teaching, I have maintained an active schedule as a performer and have set about to find good quality clarinets (once in a while a flute) in need of repair, which I get back into as good a condition as possible and then get them into the hands of someone who will use and cherish it. These old Leblancs are far superior to all of the new plastic models and to many, if not most, of the more expensive wood models on the market today. Why settle for an inferior plastic clarinet when for less money you can have a beautiful wood instrument? My prices cover my costs (most of the time). I offer instruments which I am proud to sell and you'll be proud to own. One of my favorite reviews here is, "I came as a customer and left as a friend." I stand 100% behind my offerings, so if you are not happy with your purchase for any reason, simply return it for a full refund.
