We tested this radio with a 6V AC adapter and it all worked as expected.  However, when we tested using batteries (rechargeable) it indicated that the batteries were dead.  On closer inspection, it seems that the battery compartment has suffered battery leakage at some stage.  We did not have a fresh set of alkaline batteries available and it may require use of 1.5V alkaline batteries rather than lower voltage rechargeable to function on battery power.

No power adapter is supplied as the one that came with the radio was not in a safe condition (we conducted our testing using a multi-voltage universal adapter).
