Papaver somniferum poppy seeds. This is the tasmanian variant, recognized for its high opium production. Each order contains 1 pound of seeds. Harvested in 2023. Unadulterated and unwashed.

This variant is fairly easy to germinate but bringing it  to full maturity can be difficult. Proper research is highly recommended.

GENERAL GERMINATION GROWING TIPS:

• Here are some steps for planting poppy seeds:

• Prepare the soil:   Choose a sunny spot with good drainage and weed the area.

• Sprinkle the seeds:   Sprinkle the seeds thinly across the ground to create natural looking drifts. You can also mix the seeds with sand for more even sowing.

• Cover the seeds:   Cover the seeds with 1/8 inch of soil. The seeds need to be in contact with sunlight to germinate, so if you have a lot of mulch, pull it back to plant.

• Keep the soil moist:   Keep the soil moist until plants emerge, which takes 7 to 28 days depending on soil temperature. Water gently so you don't splash the seeds around. Be careful not to keep the soil too wet, to avoid damping-off disease.

• Thin the seedlings:   Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to around 30 cm (12 in) apart.

ONCE MATURITY IS REACHED  THEY ARE HIGHLY DEPENDENT ON THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT RECEIVED IN A DAY; WHICH WILL TRIGGER  FLOWERING. FLOWERING TOO SOON WITH DRASTICALLY EFFECT THE OVERALL SIZE AND POD PRODUCTION.
