A very beautiful french oil on canvas which is a study of Eugene Delacroix’s famous large painting of the Barque of Dante which hangs in the Louvre in Paris - the original is 2.4 metres long and this is a much smaller study or esquisse of that work. The painting has been relined around 1900 and needs cleaning and has some small marks.
