1957 Buick Century Caballero. I have a clear/clean Utah title in my name for the Caballero. This is a very original and rare Buick station wagon. The Caballero Station wagon is a four door pillar-less hardtop. It has a completely original drivetrain. The 364 Cubic Inch V8 runs and the transmission is operational. The Buick Century Caballeros is a restoration project. Please look closely at all of the photos. Please check out my 100% positive feedbacks that are related to the cars I've sold. I'm not a dealer. I'm a retired teacher that loves old cars, but I'm 83 years old, and I need to sell my Buick.
I want to new owner to know exactly what they are buying. With this goal in mind, I will list the history and both the positive and negative aspects of the Buick Caballero. First the history of the Buick. The Buick Caballero was purchased new by Mr. Lon Arnold Hansen of Roy Utah. Mr Hansen owned the Buick the for over 50 years. When Mr. Hansen passed away, the Buick was left unattended in Mr. Hansen's Roy farm shed for many years. At an estate sale Mr. Gregory Cabral of Hooper, Utah purchased the Buick Caballero from the Hanson family estate. Mr. Cabral is a disabled Vet. who wanted to restore the Buick, but was not financially unable to do the restoration. While parked in Mr. Cabral's back field kids through rocks at the Buick and broke the windshield and the driver's side door window. Not wanting to see the rare old Buick Caballero damaged further Mr. Cabral sold the Buick to me. I started the restoration. I purchased several "New Old Stock" parts and worked on getting the Buick Caballero running. Fortunately there is a good aftermarket for 1957 Buick parts and the Buick Club is a great source of information and advice.
Second, the positive aspects of my Buick: The Buick Caballero is very complete and original. The engine runs and the transmission shifts. The original drivetrain is complete and in working condition. The Buick's body is straight. The hood, tailgate, an doors align properly and open and close. The door latches need a good cleaning, but are complete. There is surface rust on the exterior parts of the body, but no rust holes. The rear floor pan next to the spare tire well is rusted and needs to be repaired. The Buick Caballero is a very rare model and very few were produced. In good condition, Caballeros are expensive. Please check the current auction prices.
Third, the negative aspects: After sitting in a farm shed and then a farm field, for decades, my Buick Caballero needs a complete restoration. The interior is tattered and needs to be removed and repaired. The seats frames and springs are in place and in good condition, but the cloth material is torn and needs to be completely restored. The front windshield is broken as well as the driver's side front door glass. I have found the windshield at Bob's Classic Auto Glass as well as the door glass. The body has surface rust, but the only serious rust problem is in the rear spare tire well and the floor pan next to the spare tire well. I'm running the Buick off of a gas can. The engine sounds good, and, after adding fresh transmission fluid the Buick was shifted in to drive and in to reverse. The transmission is in working order. I have not checked or repaired the brakes. I have located all the wheel cylinders and the brake master cylinder on line, but I have not driven the Buick due to the lack of brakes. Again, please look closely at all of the photos.
With the above information in mind, I want to be sure the new owner knows exactly what they are buying. Please check my EBay feedback scores. I have over 1200 positive feedbacks some of which are for antique cars. I'm not a car dealer. I'm a retired teacher who loves to restore and work on old cars. My name is Bob and my phone number is (801) 745-5835. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a call. I will candidly answer your questions regarding the Caballero and send addition photos of any issues that are not shown in the Ebay ad.
If you have less than five (5) positive feedbacks on Ebay, please message me on Ebay before you bid. I want to be sure this is a good, straightforward auction with not problems or scams. Good luck bidding and I hope the Caballero finds a good home. I will assist the shipper you choose in having the Buick shipped anywhere in the U.S. I will work with you regarding the time needed to pick the Caballero up.
Sincerely, Bob
