Set of 3 ceramic or porcelain material coffee mugs from 1986.  Made for Varian NMR customers and employees, I obtained these in 1986 as an employee.  The NMR chart on these mugs is the NMR table of isotopes visible by NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) experimentation.  Mega geek love !!!   Varian, once one of the greatest NMR companies closed forever in 2014.

For backstory, Varian Inc was one of the largest manufacturers of scientific instruments in the industry.  They were originally known for vacuum tube technology.  I believe NMR began in 1952 and I know that the Varian brothers, Russell and Sigurd, were foundational in NMR understanding in the 1950's.  Varian made NMR instruments for many years being known for advancements in the science and the software to drive analysis.  They were key players in liquid, solid-state and MRI work.  They were part of the growth of the superconducting magnets. In 2009, the were bought by Agilent Technologies and in 2014, the NMR business was closed and is no more.

All 3 mugs are in great used shape.  All have been used with hot or cold beverages and warmed in a microwave and washed by dishwasher.  There are no cracks or chips. There are minor marks that I see.  There is light discoloration inside each mug. Please look carefully at all pictures as part of the description. The Varian stamp on the bottom of the inside is fading. The charts on the outside of the mugs are in amazing shape and I'm guessing will be for another 40 years !

Each mug weighs 11 ounces and is 3.25" tall with a 3.5" top diameter.  Including handle, the mug is 4.5" wide.
Will ship well protected.
