Magnificent 3-tier Napoleon Empire red coral tiara, complete and original. n the final couple of panels of photos, you'll see some of our portrait miniatures of real women in the Napoleon I era, each wearing one of these very fashionable tiaras. Those to show that they were versatile, sometimes worn to the side, sometimes across the top or crown, worked into an elegant upswept coiffure, chignon. These are more and more rare to find, and particularly the pearl or red coral jeweled ones like this. Two rows of hand carved c.1800-1910 red coral beads set into a gilded ormolu, this one is not missing a single bead. The facet-cut beads in 3 tiers range between 5mm to 3mm. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. There is not a single missing hand carved bead - RARE to find complete. Beautiful faceted and graduated beads across the upper row are evenly sized at 5mm, none missing. How was it worn? These sometimes come with a string still attached to each end, or later adaptation of elastic, which creates a headband-like strap which is worked into the hairstyle. Some use an anchor hairpin. This one displays beautifully. Can be worn as intended, hair ornament, or can be worn as a necklace, lovely jewelry. NOTE: Red box is not included - it is only a prop for our photos.

Insurance has been eliminated as an option by ebay, forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
