DATING TO 1905
FASHIONED OF A LIGHT BLUE SILK THAT IS FULLY ENCASED IN BLACK NET THAT IS COVERED IN SHIMMERING BLACK MYLAR SEQUINS THROUGHOUT.
THE COLLAR IS PIPED IN FLAT BLACK SILK SATIN WITH A BOW STYLING ATOP THE FRONT. SATIN BELTING ENCIRCLES THE WAIST AND IS BONED ON THE REAR.
THE SLEEVES ARE IN DENSE SEQUINS WITH ROWS OF SILK PIPING AND ENDS IN SCALLOPING OF THE SEQUIN TRIM.
THE SEQUINS FULLY FILL IN THE SKIRTING WITH REPEATING BOW DETAILING ALL AROUND THE BOTTOM HEM. BLACK SATIN EDGING TRIMS THE BOTTOM WITH THE REAR IN A TRAIN.
INTERIOR BODICE IS FULLY BONED AND LINED IN BLACK SILK TAFFETA WITH A MILAN THEATRE COMPANY LABEL ATTACHED TO THE INNER BUST.
CONDITION: THIS ORIGINALLY WAS A TWO PIECE GOWN AND THE THEATRE COMPANY MODIFIED IT INTO A ONE PIECE.
SOLD AS IT WAS ACQUIRED. NUMEROUS SCATTERED PINHOLES TO FINGERTIP SIZED HOLES ARE SCATTERED THROUGH THE NETTING WITH TWO LARGE JAGGED TEARS ON THE REAR TRAIN. MUCH OF THE BLACK SILK PIPING IS A MORE MODERN 1930’S REPLACEMENT BUT IT IS HARD TO TELL UNLESS IT IS TOUCHED.
A LARGE TEAR TO THE NET IS SEEN ON EACH SIDE OF THE FRONT, NOTE THE IMAGES. A PORTION OF AN ALTERNATE SATIN WAS ADDED AT THE REAR AND THE SNAPS ARE NOT ORIGINAL. THE INNER BLACK SILK TAFFETA LINING HAS TEARS AND IS ABSENT THROUGH THE SLEEVES.
A GOWN WELL WORTHY OF RESTORATION. SOLD AS IT WAS ACQUIRED.
