HIGONOKAMI Carbon Tool Steel Warikomi Japanese Folding Knife (Mini)
Made in Japan
HIGONOKAMI is a traditional Japanese folding knife with the history of over 130 years in production since 1894.
It is sometimes said to be a "Japanese Opinel" with its same long history, simple construction, durability, and unchanging original shape.
This has been a standard folding knife every Japanese familiar with.
There have been about 40 factories manufacturing HIGONOKAMI in peak period (1950's), but only one small factory remaining now on the verge of extinction due to the appearance of pencil sharpner, snap-off blades, etc.
Most of their knives are made with the traditional Japanese Katana forging procedure, which is to sandwitch harder steel with softer steel to realize both hardness and viscosity.
This is a midget size knife, which is the smallest of Higonokami lineups.
Although it is very small, the blade is forged in traditional 3 layer construction using carbon tool steel.
You can clearly see beautiful 'Hamon' (tempering pattern) on the blade.
It is coming with traditional Japanese bell, which protects you from evil and bring in lucky.
