This impressive large Thai bronze statue features a partially gilt Buddha in the Sukhothai style, circa the 19th/20th century, 


The face in a calm meditative expression with downcast incised eyes beneath high arched brows and fine long aquiline nose. He is gracefully seated with legs folded in the hero pose exposing the sole of his right foot resting in the crook of his left leg in paryankasana position on a simple shaped base. The right hand in bhumisparsa mudra near the knee over the top of the right shin known as the earth touching position or subduing Mara. The left hand in dhyana mudra, resting in the center of his lap and at the heel of his right foot. He wears a diaphanous layered sanghati outlined  across his torso leaving his right arm uncovered, the garment smoothly draped over his squared and rounded shoulder, and with the robe edge folded over with reversing inflection, resembling a shawl over the left shoulder.
