The shade is a walnut colour on the outside with no obvious fading. The inside is much paler - more of a birch/pine colour. When lit with a soft warm light bulb (40w/60w), it gives a golden glow. I have always liked that these shades look equally lovely lit or unlit. We had a pair in our sitting room and they looked fabulous.

The shade folds flat for transport, with a simple cross spar that slots into the side panels and keeps the eye-shape rigid when it's in situ. It is very light and super-easy to fit.
