I am so excited to bring to you this precious plate from a Victorian era Transferware Children's Tea Set.

There are no markings but my research leads me to believe it was made in Staffordshire, England, around 1870-1890's. The sweet theme is Old Mother Hubbard, from the nursery rhyme which dates back to 1805, possibly earlier.

I've only ever seen a couple of these plates in blue, but this is a moss green color, leading me to believe it is extremely rare.

Please note the condition- it was well-loved and shows wear, fitting to its age.

I love the details- Mother Hubbard's dress and shoes, the cuckoo clock on the wall, the begging pup.

Measurements: The plate is 5 1/2 inches across.

I also have 3 sets of plates and cups listed as well and will combine to save shipping if requested.

Old Mother Hubbard

Went to the cupboard,

To give the poor dog a bone;

When she came there,

The cupboard was bare,

And so the poor dog had none.

She went to the baker's

To buy him some bread;

When she came back

The dog was dead!

She went to the undertaker's

To buy him a coffin;

When she came back

The dog was laughing.

(I love a happy ending!)

Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!
