This is a VERY rare find, and probably will not be repeated in a month of Sundays. An unrepeatable opportunity to buy the closest thing to a brand new shell as possible. Ford Escort Mexico MK1 with etched windows, engine number matches V5C, stating Escort Mexico, all tags and stating Avo and stamped top plate with VIN, fully checked and HPI clear, fully rebuilt shell in 2008 to an outstanding standard and resprayed in Ermine white, V5C states white. I bought this car November last year to go with my own private collection of classic RS Fords. I have always wanted a mexico and this one came to light during a conversation with an old customer of ours and was local. I bought it from a lady who's husband had passed away and had been dry stored in the garage for 16 years, as an unfinished project. All my checks were done and even took an ex Avo member with me to confirm this car was right. All the bulkhead was correct to accommodate the hydraulic brake & clutch system, front suspension struts reinforced, trailing arm mounts at rear, rear studs in floor pan for rear guard, infact, everything a type 49 body should have. It was then purchased and found a vast amount of things were missing so the hunt began, new mexico badges, new black headlining, new stripes, new tyres with re-furb'd wheels, every door, boot & window seal replaced, new chrome side trims, new rear parcel shelf, new door locks and keys, then second hand genuine parts were bought, front indicators, fuel tank in it's original primer, front corner bumpers, rear glass clear lights, the list goes on.The car has excellent door cards, the seats are original buckets that need recovering. It still needs the brake servo sourcing and a radiator and few a few nic naks. It's nearly all there and needs finishing i.e brakes sorting, haven't had it running, rear axle building up.
This is as far as it's gone because there's a but, a BIG BUT that has made me lose interest in the car.
I applied online to change the keeper into my name and received a confirmation email and to allow 2 weeks for the V5C. DVLA then sent me a letter asking for images, so images were sent then phone call after phone call and many emails I then had to get the car authenticated by an Avo club member so more images were sent and to my horror he is saying it's not what it is!!! Ermmm, strange!!!
He is trying to say the rear studs sticking down for the pan are too long and should be braised not welded but new panels aren't braised nowadays so |I can't see that being a problem and one minute he is saying the car is a August 1973 registered but the shell is September 1973, but it clearly states on the V5 it was registered June 1973. He spoke to my colleague who looked at it with me and is now saying it's a 1974 1300 shell, so this is where i am with the car. The guy from the Avo club, who sounds about 30 has not even been out to see the car but everyone that has looked at it, are saying it's a RS shell. I know it is as i know where it was restored. I am now selling the car as I have lost interest in it. The car owes me a fortune. This is a totally rust free shell and has been wax oiled to protect it. I want a hassle free sale, no dreamers! Come out and view the car for yourself. Everything is there in all the right places.
Call me on 07876-381625 for more info or email me. I have invested big money in this car so i will be ignoring people offering low ball numbers, you won't find another one like this. £500 deposit to be paid within 24 hours of auction ending & balance to be paid in full when collected from Brandon Suffolk.  Thank you.
