From a private collection of mainly WW2 collectables. A WW2 brass Trench Art matchbox holder with the town crest of Hengelo , Holland attached.

Hengelo During WW2, the city was bombed by the Allies because of the presence of the railways and the war industry activities of local factories that served the occupier. The heart of the town was accidentally destroyed during the bombing of Hengelo on 6 and 7 October 1944, killing several hundreds of people. The damage was sadly recorded as 'collateral damage' by the Allied Forces.
