This is a very fine example of English parian porcelain dating from around 1860. It is a lidded flower encrusted potpourri vase standing 32cm tall to the top of the knop. It is marked with the Royal Arms used by Samuel Alcock but when Alcock went out of business in around 1859-62 the factory was taken over by Sir James Duke and family and was know as Hill Pottery. The initials JSH for JS Hill were used as a monogram on wares. This piece dates to that transitional period using both Alcock's Style of Royal Arms and Hill Pottery's JSH. I imagine that it was created by Hill using Alcock moulds. 

Although there is some doubt about the creator, there is no doubt that this was a very fine and expensive piece. The flower moulding is intricate and of an extremely high quality.

The piece has no cracks or restoration. However, as is often found with delicate porcelains like this, there is some loss to the flowers. and foliage. I feel that this is at an acceptable level and the piece displays very well. I have tried to show the level of missing or damaged decoration in the photos. The largest missing area is, I think, on the lid where there is a gap. There foot of the piece has some minor dirty marks and I have shown these clearly. Please study the photos carefully to satisfy yourself with the condition of the piece.
