This Northern Electric Company Ltd Model 3A Noise Measuring Set is perfect for those in need of a reliable and efficient noise measuring device. The set includes a 2.25" x 1.25" microphone with Jack, a C-message module model 497A Network 3KC Flat, and a power source of Eveready Battery No. 484 (48V DC). The unit number is 178.CQ.E.R and the case color is gray. The set also includes operating instructions and a weighs13 lb. The set is made in Canada and the C-message module is included. Last used by Canadian Pacific Railway Signal Division and CNCP Telecommunications in 1980's. The Eveready No. 484 48V Battery needs to be replaced as it has not been charged or used for a long time.

Please note that although the noise measuring set is complete and was working at the time I acquired it, I can not guarantee how well it performs after being idle for all these years.
It would be a nice addition to the collection of any telecom, science or industrial museum!

A bit of history on The Northern Electric Co. Ltd
The Northern Electric Co. Ltd was a Canadian subsidiary of the iconic tech giant, USA based Western Electric Company.
It later became Northern Telecom (Nortel). The company was successful in engineering, manufacturing and marketing voice exchanges for businesses and phones for end users as well as central office equipment for many carrier's data centers and end user data equipment such as multiplexers, routers etc. The company was darling of The Bay Street and The Wall Street for many years until the company started its downward spiral that ended in chapter 11. There are many theories and much speculation what caused
the failure of the company with such a successful and long track record in Electronics and Telecommunications business.

Thank you for looking and good luck bidding on this vintage and historically important piece of telecom equipment that was manufactured by Western Electric / Northern Electric and owned by Canadian Pacific Railway Company's Signal Division, CP Telecommunications.

PS. I had a privilege to work for CP Telecom and its 3 successors for 1/4 century and I live in the city where Northern Telecom (and Nortel) had multiple manufacturing locations in it's heyday.
